Information about student visas is available on the Australian Government Department of Home Affairs student visa page.

While studying in Australia on a student visa, it is your responsibility to comply with the conditions attached to your visa. Check your visa grant letter, speak with your registered migration agent if you have one, or use Visa Entitlement Verification Online (VEVO) to view your current visa details and conditions.

As a student visa holder, you must:

  • remain enrolled in a CRICOS-registered course and maintain satisfactory course progress
  • maintain adequate Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the duration of your stay in Australia
  • notify Melbourne Polytechnic of any change to your residential address within seven days
  • comply with the work conditions attached to your student visa.

Dependants

Eligible family members who intend to accompany you to Australia may apply with you as part of your student visa application. They may need to undergo health examinations, maintain adequate health insurance and meet other visa requirements.

If your family members plan to join you after you arrive in Australia, they may be able to apply separately as subsequent entrants. Check whether they were declared in your original student visa application and meet the relevant requirements.

If you have school-age dependants accompanying you to Australia, you must make adequate arrangements for their education.
