Scholarship format / structure

Funding is designed to support the student during study for items such as:

• Tuition & material fees OR
• Tools and equipment

Scholarship finance can be paid to complete or contribute to new enrolments, back paid to reimburse completed enrolments or supplied as a direct EFT payment for tools, equipment etc.

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible for this scholarship you must be enrolled or enrolling in a government-funded Melbourne Polytechnic place in one of the following courses:

• Certificate III in Cabinet Making and Timber Technology MSF30322
• Certificate III in Joinery CPC31920
• Certificate III in Carpentry CPC30220

Selection criteria

1. Outline your background and personal circumstances, past work experience, schooling and what is attracting you to a career in carpentry & timber trades.
2. Describe what this scholarship would mean to you.
3. Applications should be supported by a personal and/or professional reference.
4. Any documentation to support the eligibility criteria.

2. Go to our scholarship application portal
3. Click the Log in via SAML button
4. Enter your Melbourne Polytechnic student email address and password
5. Find the Provan and Rosenberg Families Carpentry, Joinery, Cabinet Making Scholarship at the bottom of the page
6. Complete the application

You can submit supporting documentation with your application. This is strongly advised to increase your chances of selection, but is not mandatory.

The families behind Melbourne’s Provans Timber and Hardware, have pledged the generous donation of an annual award and scholarships to give back to the city’s trade industry which has long supported them. The Provan family initiated the idea in memory of their family ancestor, David Provan, a founding member of the Committee of the Collingwood Technical School, now known as Melbourne Polytechnic.

David Provan, great grandson of the founder David Provan, is proud of the legacy his family has built. He commented: “My great-grandfather was a hard-working family-oriented person with strong values and an absolute commitment to his staff and the local community".
